Dr Karina Stewart who is also Brand and Concept Director of Kamalaya Koh Samui, holds a Master’s degree in TCM from California’s Yo San University and a B.A. in cultural anthropology and Asian religions from Princeton University. She has spent 22 years studying and practising Asian healing and spiritual traditions. Prior to Kamalaya, Karina founded a health centre in Kathmandu where she practised Oriental Medicine and produced a range of Chinese herbal products. Later, she collaborated on a research project with Dr. James Dahlgran, an expert in environmental toxicology, and Dr. Maoshing Ni, author of “Secrets of Longevity, to develop and test medical detoxification protocols combining modern medicine, TCM and Naturopathy.

Karina also designed and directed the medical detoxification programme at the Hall Centre in California and facilitated her ‘Awakening’ retreats, which focused on cellular detoxification and purification practices from both Eastern and Western traditions. She is the creative force behind Kamalaya’s holistic wellness sanctuary and brand.
